wraps for wooden arrows

Has anyone used arrow wraps on wood shafts and do they stick good? Should the shaft be sealed first or that area left without any sealer?

i use them on sealed arrows. The onestringer wraps and 3 rivers wraps stick extremely well, in fact the ones i removed pulled all the sealer off the arrow

Go to the hardware and get some spray paint in your favorite flavor.  Where you want the crest to stop, wrap some painter's blue masking tape at that spot, then wrap a piece of scrap paper around the shaft to protect it, and spray in light coats to eliminate runs.  To me, wraps belong on wood like a caribou belongs in Arizona.

I use the vinyl that i use for stickers. Works well, just can't use different colors. But I don't, I just use white. It's personal preference really.

I have used them on sealed arrows and the onestringer wraps stick very well. What I like about them is if you have to refletch you don't have to scrape the arrow and possibly damage the wood.  Jim Pyles

I haven't tried that because I'm a "dipper"!

I would like to try wraps, but I haven't found wraps that are long enough as I dip at around 8-10 inches.

I can understand why some of us think wraps should not be used on wood. I'll use them just the same.    :p    They stick on a finished shaft great. Have no problems with feathers stayin' put. Can order them from Onestringer in almost any length, width and color. Arrows to me are just the same as ammo... Can't have too many of 'em! But then, (they) would never win an arrow building beauty contest.
