It's coming!

It was 96 degrees here today. But I noticed a few things that let me know hunting season and falls coming!
The walnut tree's are getting a little yellow in them and a few leaves had fallen off them in the back yard, The big cotton wood tree across the road by the mailbox is starting to drift a few leaves as well.
The corns just starting to get a little yellow in it down towards the bottom.
I'm ready, and it won't be long now and the woods will be "opening up" a little.
Now if we could just get a cool morning I would go scare some squirrels!

Been a hot one this summer for sure. You can usually count on a stretch of hot stuff sometime during the summer, but this is getting a little old. Bring on some cool crisp mornings and some fall colors. I can't wait.

Cool foggy morning and a small flock of geese honking overhead this evening.....
Relatively still too hot over here as well but at least occasionally there are a few encouraging signs.

I mentioned this to my husband last week. The leaves are tattered and gnawed, and the trees are just about ready for a good, solid rest. Nuts are dropping, fall is coming. It is in the smell of the air, the exercise flights of the geese, the fog over the ponds in the morning, the urgency of the crickets.
If I had told anybody else around here, they would have thought I was nuts. Thank God for family!

I think our heat is supposed to break by the weekend. It'll be a welcome relief!
I saw a couple of town squirrels down on the ground gathering up a few fallen walnuts. In the woods the other morning I noticed some acorns on the ground and from what I see we're in for a bumper mast crop.
I had to go ahead and mow the grass this week even though it was hot. There is a look that it takes on when it starting to go dormant, that was evident. Wahoo! I am so happy to see that!!
I almost always get up around 4 each day and try to get outside to experience the sunrise(His mercy begins new each day) Lately the sunrise has a more fall like feeling even with the heat. It's staying darker longer and getting dark earlier.
Dawn and dusk are my two favorite times of the day. What I think of as the "bewitching" hours. My intended target can show up any second.
In the mornings I'm usually waiting in total darkness for a time of quiet devotion, reflection and anticipation. As things start to lighten up, it's about as good as it's going to get and tends to go downhill for me. Whereas in the late afternoon I usually feel like it's at its worst but just gets better every moment I spend in wait up to the very moment I am forced either by the clock or lack of light to call it quits.
Yep! Fall is a coming! But right now it's still the summer time off season doldrums for me and others too I'm sure. I mean just look at the length of my posts..lol
Sorry!!!
Have a great and Godly day!

I have watched about 8-10 deer play in the yard in the mornings all year long. They now have a more energetic bounce to them... I think they also know what is coming.

Blackhawk, we've only had a handfull of days that havn't reached the mid 90's or above this year. Lots of 100 plus with high humidity. I can't wait til it cools down to 80 for a high. Last night it barely got down to 80. I'm ready for some major cooling.
