multi purpose hunting trips
« on: August 12, 2010, 08:20:00 PM »
lets here what types of different activities are integrated into some of your trips.my son and i were going to pan for gold during the day in between morning and evening hunts.my trip has been whittled down to three days so gold panning becomes secondary.i still plan on taking my pans and sluice box though.what types of things do you do?  :deadhorse:

Take my Brittany and hunt grouse and Woodcock.

Fishing around camp, if there is water nearby, goes well with hunting I find.

I'm with outwest, we do a fair amount of fishin for and eatin brookies. Dont even need a pole most the time...some line and a handfull of panther martins in the pack can make for some mighty fine meals.

With my annual trip to NE Washington in mid-September for 2-3 weeks, I do some multi-tasking.

1.  bow hunt for whitetail and mule deer

2.  rifle hunt for black bear

3.  shotgun hunt for grouse

4.  fishing the local river

5.  stump shooting

When I head to the cabin in northern MN mid Sept through Dec 31st, I am always going bowhunting deer.

I also always have my 20 Ga SxS and a dog with, next to bowhunting whitetails and fishing, it is grouse hunting for me.

Just about everywhere I go, I carry two good coon dogs along. And go coon hunting. This way I can hunt at night too. But, I do use a 22 pistol for that.
