Hill Cane Arrows
« on: August 15, 2010, 08:31:00 PM »
here's a set of hill cane arrows i just finished.  patb gave me a bundle of hill cane at the tenn. classic and this is what they turned into.  they are 32" long with apple foreshafts.  the foreshafts came from a small apple tree a buck rubbed a couple years ago.  the tree didn't survive but it did have two nice shoots coming off that i had hoped to make into arrows.  the shafts came out too light in spine so when i was looking for some foreshaft material i saw them and decided they would go to good use in this way.  hopefully get a little pay back for the buck who killed the tree.  i finished them out with a dozen woodsman broadheads i've been saving.  enjoy!

Those are wonderful! What kind of system are you using to join the foreshaft to the cane?

thanks fellows!  i forgot to mention that i used silk to wrap the foreshaft and the feathers.  to attach a foreshaft, i use a 16 degree taper.  the main shaft has a female taper while the foreshaft has a male taper.
