Thanks guys..
This hunting was very different to any goat hunting I have done before because instead of sneaking around in the rough cliff type country that I normally hunt these critters it was all done on very flat country thick with the local shrub called mulga. What made this so different was not the terrane but the fact the goats were rutting with mobs of a dozen or more billies forcing their affections on one poor nannie in each mob.It was a real balance of stalking speed because the boys are so distracted you can shuffle in quite quickly and in fact if you take it to carefully the Nannie will bust loose from time to time and lead the mob to the next bit of scrub she thinks will give her sanctuary. If you hurry to much she will see you and bust free anyway so it did take a couple of days to find my rhythm for this type of hunting.
Ounce this was worked out it was not too hard to get a few and I soon put the bow away and carried the camera instead and got some great pics of nannies with new born kids.On the last day I took the bow again in a guest to get a monster Billy and was lucky enough to get that one just over 40 inches. It was a fantastic stalk with this guy away from the mob by himself allowing me time to sneak through the middle of prob a doz goats to take him with one arrow at about 20 yards. He took two steps and lay down for good with all his mates feeding on around him none the wiser.
Cheers KIM
