Anybody that hunts with a Red Wing Hunter?
« on: August 22, 2010, 06:00:00 PM »
Hi!
I am wondering about the Red Wing and if there is someone that hunts with these fine old bows?
I have one from what I guess is the early 60's it's marked with the wing logo.
This was my first tradbow and is my "finest" keeper.
It's a 58" 45@28 bow with a very nice grip.
I did compete with it earlier with good results, but have never hunted with it. But one day I will   :archer:

But at this moment I'm wondering if anybody has some hunting pics  with these good ol' bows, and of course some experiences to share   :coffee:
With a healthy dose of madness and bad memory, life`s a wonderful journey

It is a great bow. Lots of fun I have the same bow. I used it for a season. Put in 80 some thing days of active hunting with it. I shot a deer and a few squirrels.

I don't have it now but I had one back in the 60's and my wife has one that I got her for her first recurve. It's 58" and 43#. She won first place in the women's division at the Muzzy stump shoot the first year she shot it.

Red Wing Hunters are truly some of the best of the classic bows out there!

My wife has two. One is 54", 45#@28" the other is 52", 38#@28". The 45# bow my Dad bought new in the Fall of 1968 for his son, born in the Spring of the year (me!). It's the first bow I ever hunted with. Shot my first deer with it. I out-grew the short draw length but there was no way I would ever get rid of it. I'm happy to pass it to her.

The other, 38#, is an early 60's model with the teeny-tiny limb tips.

She loves them! The smaller grips fit her hand perfect and she is a dandy shot with both of them.

This is the 23lbs gobbler she got this Spring with the 45# bow. It's nearer 40# with her 26" draw length. It had 5 beards!

Doc...you're a show off! Nice bows, however.

I wonder how one would shoot if the limbs were carbon/foam??????

My wife has killed a bunch of deer with one that is 37 pounds at her 26.5" draw, the arrow either pasted through or was dangling by the feathers, without one lost deer. I have been looking for a 52" left hand 55 pounder for myself.
