Anybody that have experience with natural waterproof feathers?

Hi!
today i was participating in a 3D tournament here in Norway. The rain was pouring down and my trueflight feathers was really wet and was lying low against the arrowshaft. Then one fellow tradshooter told me about some natural feathers that has the natural oil/fat protection film on them, like what ducks and goose have in theirs. So a simple question is: does anybody know about this and where to buy them?

Never heard of them,But I do use pure food grade silicone and it is unbelievable!water beads off and they don't smell(thats why you get food grade)Nor do they lay down.

Go to  www.customfeathers.com  these are all natural turkey feathers. I would assume they have all the oils still in them since there are no dyes used. Not cheap ,but they look good. Have been meaning to try some.

I've been using wild turkey and goose feathers for a few years now.  You can't beat them

A processed or dyed feather looses it's natural oils which keep it water resistant. So, the "real" turkey or goose feathers will hold up better than a processed feather.

Goose feathers have a natural oil line that makes them virtually waterproof. I use them all the time on the Oregon and Washington west side elk and deer hunts  because it rains all the time and  I can hunt all day with them and they don't lay down. I get mine from goose hunters in the area but in the past I have bought them on line. Frank

Gray goose...I always have at least two on them in my quiver for those times when wet happens.

I've search the net, but cant find any site that have the goose feathers, only turkey.
Does anybody have some to sell(left wing) or could push me in the right direction for purchase of these?

The Federal migratory bird act makes selling goose feathers illegal. That's what I was told by an exgame official. I don't know about ones that are already processed. I had an arrow that I missed a ground hog with that stuck in a log. I'll get it later I said. Well two and a half months later I finally did. Rain and everything. Turkey feathers still same as when I fletched them. Good luck.

Any natural feathers are better than processed. If you look at wild turkey feathers and processed turkey feathers you can see the difference in the oil line. On the wild it is much taller and appears heavier.

The act of cleaning, bleaching, and dying take the oil out of the processed feathers. I suspect that farm rasied turkeys also have a weaker oil line as they don't need it as badly as a wild bird.

Also, a lower profile cut on a wild feather may be completely under the oil line making a stronger more weather resistant feather.

You can get them on fleabay and I found one site that sold domestic grey goose feathers.  I can't remember the name though.  I found it by typing in goose feathers or goose feather fletching on my search engine.
