Any natural feathers are better than processed. If you look at wild turkey feathers and processed turkey feathers you can see the difference in the oil line. On the wild it is much taller and appears heavier.
The act of cleaning, bleaching, and dying take the oil out of the processed feathers. I suspect that farm rasied turkeys also have a weaker oil line as they don't need it as badly as a wild bird.
Also, a lower profile cut on a wild feather may be completely under the oil line making a stronger more weather resistant feather.
