Massie "Longhorn" Longbow
« on: May 17, 2007, 10:34:00 AM »
Since Chaparral Archery went of of business and with it, my bow order for their Kaibab hybrid longbow, I understand Jim Belcher of Belcher Bows is now building the Massie Longhorn which looks like a very good hybrid longbow. For those that have a Massie Longhorn, how is the bow when it comes to quietness and hand shock? The Kaibab's longest length was 64", but the Longhorn comes in lengths up to 68". With my long drawlength of 30", I am again leaning to a 66" Longhorn. Those of you who have a Massie Longhorn, would it be possible for you to post a picture of the strung bow from tip to tip? I would appreciate it.

I'll bet a 68" would be sweet.

i'll try to get a picture this weekend for you...my longhorn is very dead in the hand, quick, and quiet.  it came with a fast flight string that sounded like a high pitched banjo when shot, but i put on a set of hushpuppy wool silencers, and she hardly makes a whisper now.  great hybrid bow.  mine is 64", and i draw to 28" with absolutely no stack, so 66 or 68 would definitely be fine for you.
