All black Bear recurves

I have a chance at a nice old all black (Micarta)bear bear. It looks to be in good shape, but what are the concerns with these bows? Is there anything particular I should be looking out for? Are these shooters? By the way, its a 48 supermag, and no its not the one on the auction site going for a premium.
