Need spine recommendations
« on: May 17, 2007, 03:39:00 PM »
I just gave my son a Browning Safari I recurve. It is 54# at 28", but he consistently draws 30-1/4" BOP, so I've gotta buy some new arrows for him. He will most likely use 150gr or 170gr screw in Snuffers. I want to get him Easton Legacys, but don't know which spine shafts to buy.  I'm thinking he is pulling about 60 to 62#, and the finished arrows should be about 31" to 31-1/2" BOP. I haven't had any luck finding anyone with arrows long enough for him to test, and I want to be pretty sure that I buy the right arrows the first time. I have some 1918's with 170 gr. field points that fly well for him, but they are only 29" BOP and the tip of the FP is pulled well onto the rest when he is at full draw.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chuck

This is a guess but I would say he pulling alittle over 60# and he's planning on 150 to 170 gr. heads.I think I would try maybe 2216's or maybe 2117 with his draw length.I'm just guessing with a recurve and dacron string those might put you in the ballpark.
