Great Northern Ghost
« on: September 05, 2010, 03:03:00 PM »
I just made a deal on a GN Ghost recurve.  I picked it up used.  Hopefully I have it by next weekend.  Have not shot a recurve since the mid 90's.  I am really looking forward to shooting this bow.

They are among the best of the 50's style recurves,  want another one someday.  Post some pics when you get it.

I just had one made by Jerry back in the early summer.  I like it so much, I'm already trying to decide what combination of wood I want with the limited edition green glass on my next one.

Jerry is a great guy and a heck of a bowyer!

Make sure to post pictures when you receive it.

Coach, what are the specs? Hunting bow? If so, post up some pics when you tag something! Good luck.

I had a 58# @ 28", 60" Ghost for awhile. It shot great, felt great and had power to loan to other bow's that needed some. My only gripe was noise. I have a longer draw (29.5") and maybe that contributed to the noise??? I tried every silencer in the book. Rubber worked best for me. Still one heck of a hunting machine. I have since become a Bushbow guy, love them things.

I've got a 56" Ghost that I bought used from a guy on this site.  Great bow but like Pearl Drums, it is rather loud.  I keep thinking that I'm going to sell it but I just can't do it . . .

Take the brush buttons off---and use a wool string silencer at the 1/4 measurements---seems to work well for me. The brush buttons do not stay in one spot.

The noise thing sounds strange to me in that all the research I did it seemed that the GN were a quiet bow.  That was the one thing that the owner pointed out to me, that the bow was dead quiet.
