A little piece of ancient archery history
« on: September 05, 2010, 09:06:00 PM »
Took the family to Fort Ancient today and thought I would share some of the archery history.

Nestled 245 feet above the Little Miami River is the largest and best-preserved prehistoric hill top enclosure in the United States. Fort Ancient is a 2,000-year-old monument attesting to the sacredness of American Indian culture.

This really hit home with me, especially the last part!

When a hunter is in a tree stand with high moral values and
with the proper hunting ethics and richer for the experience, that hunter is 20
feet closer to God.

We live about 15 min. away in Waynesville. I have never been to sunwatch. I would love to make it to a shoot sometime, would have to see about working it in between football and soccer games.

I have quite a few family members in the Germantown / Miamisburg area.  Is Fort Ancient close to these places?  I was up there a few weeks ago and visited Serpent Mound on the way, it was pretty interesting also!  Every time I'm up there I'm always getting the urge to look for arrowheads and cut some hedge apple!
