Are 3 rivers wood "Hunting Arrows" any good?
« on: September 06, 2010, 12:31:00 AM »
I really want to get some arrows from a custom arrow maker here on tradgang. Problem is my bow "should" arrive this coming week. I don't really have time to wait a few weeks for really nice arrows before the season starts..Oct 1.

I'm thinking about getting some 3 rivers arrows.
I know they are not weight matched. I'm not the greatest shot in the world and wonder if I could even tell the difference.

Anyway, does anyone have any experience with them?
If so what are your thoughts?

Thank you!!

Those are what I started out with and they worked fine, I killed a lot of deer with them.

They got me started in wooden arrows. I did find that some of the nocks would fall off upon impact, and I had to glue them on properly. I never killed anything with them, but my brother got his first pig and brumby with them.

I've used them for many years, among others.  Always good quality, killed many deer with them.

I've been using them for over a decade, and I prefer their quality over some of the 'custom' ones I've ordered.  They are always the same and very good quality.  3Rivers is excellent about fast shipping; I always seem to have my arrows within a few days, even if I have them install the points for me.  Make sure you speicify the hen color feathers you want in the comments section when ordering or you'll get whatever they give you.

Some of the best arrows I have ever shot. I got them in a trade with an attached bow. The previous owner of the bow "just through them in". I thought they were crap because they were free. That was until I shot one.

I was at a 3 D shoot and the target was set really far away and everyone was losing arrows. So, I pulled the "crap" arrow out. I hit the target.  I thought that I shot well because I did not care if I lost the arrow or not. So, every "tough - arrow loosing type target" is used the 3 Rivers. Never missed!

Hmmm? I thought? Perhaps these are good after all. Anyway, they are and I love them. Unfortunately, I have lost or broken 10 of the 12. I sent one of the arrows to Brian at All Wood Arrows make me as set just like the 3 Rivers. He did, and, they are awesome, too.

The only problem I have with them is the target points will come off in all types of targets. I have shot everything from bag to 3D targets and have had the problem. Overall good arrows though.

Thanks for the input everyone.
Just have to figure out if it's worth the wait for the custom arrows.

Not if your wanting to get some good practice in. Get the 3River arrows, and then order, or better yet, make your own this winter.

I buy a lot of stuff from 3rivers and will continue to do so.
I cannot speak to the worth of their hunting arrows- or those for us adults.

I did though order some lightweight kids arrows for my granddaughter - and when I visited her- I was sickened by what she got.
There was not one straight arrow in the bunch; and they flew horribly- which detracted from my granddaughters desire to shoot ( how was she to know the arrows sucked?).

So - keep that in mind .

I will not buy arrows from them anymore because of that. In my mind a seller should not send arrows to kids - knowing they are gifts- and send arrows that should not be shot. We are talking arrows that in some cases could not be straightened.

Like I say though- I do still and will buy items from 3rivers.

I buy my shafts from other sponsors here.

That would be a deal breaker for me.

What poundage are you shooting, and how long do you need your arrows (throat of nock to back of point measurement)?  The reason I'm asking is if I have what you need, I'm sure we could work something out, and I'm just a half hour from you.

They were my first set of arrows when I switched to traditional gear, nothing wrong with these arrows in my book.
