dangerous wyoming mule deer hunt.....yikes!!!
« on: September 07, 2010, 05:09:00 PM »
Went to Ten Sleep WY on mule deer hunt.saw lots of critters but bucks kept at least 70 yards between us. I had a group of does almost step on me.So didn't have shot opportunity but had great hunt all the same and trout fishing was fantastic. Now on to the dangerous part....just outside of Gary Indiana a pickup truck stuffed to the gills with junk metal past us on the expressway I started humming the Sanford and sons theme song and my cousin and I had a good laugh right up until the jerk lost half his load and you guessed it a card table sized piece of something flew up in the air across all three lanes and smashed are windshield!! This was the Sunday before labor day and there wasn't a soul on the planet that would replace it until Tues. So my cousin and I used a leatherman a fillet knife duct tape and elbow grease to remove.....
Then to the menards for 4 pair of goggles ......269 miles later we finally got home....now that's funny I don't care who you are

Wow what an adventure.  It ends funny, but I don't know about the middle of the story.  :scared:  Where are the pic's?  :D

On a hunt out west the lead truck in our little two truck convoy got a very nice mule deer buck.  We stopped to find fluid coming out of the grill.  It was dark and no other vehicles had been spotted for a while.  We jumped back in and headed for the nearest town for fear we would run out of radiator fluid and have a truck full of gear stranded a long way from anything, which could have cause us a longer delay getting to our hunting area.  We got to a gas station and found the yellow stuff coming out of the grill had been washer fluid and not radiator fluid.  We even had a mechanic in that truck.  He didn’t bother looking to see what it was.  Unfortunately, we never got a good look at the buck or any back straps for our trouble.  He looked real nice when I last saw him spin past my door.

That's a great story. Glad everyone survived to tell the tale.

Glad you are ok.  I see Menards is doing well and expanding to Indiana.

You're lucky no one did stop near Gary, Indiana.

Brings memories of Chris Farley and David Spade in Blacksheep.

I feel for your bad luck, but if I saw you driving down the road with goggles on and no windshield I'd have busted a gut.

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow’s effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs
