Enough penetration for large black bear?

Im currently shooting about 42lbs with a 460gr arrow and a Magnus 2 blade head. Im getting 11in of penetration into my Morrell 4x4 broadhead target. Im planning on hunting bear in a few weeks and am wondering if I will have enough penetration to kill a large (300lb+)bear at 5-15yds. I know it depends on shot placement but assuming that is good what do you think? I cant afford new gear so If this set up wont work Ill be using my compound.

You should be good to go.  I shoot 50lbs on everything and normally shoot all the way through animals and my arrow weight is 60 grains or so less then yours.

I don't think you will have a problem if you put the arrow where it belongs.

Sharpen them BH and your good to go. What is your state reg on archery for bear???(ie. Is there a minimum weight bow required???)

40lb min draw weight. My bow is 45@28 but I only draw 27in.

It is a lot less then I use, but others here have used similar combinations successfully.  I believe that more important then the poundage is the flight of the arrow and the broadhead used. Is the arrow flying straight on impact?  With a well tuned arrow, from a bow of that poundage, and a cut on contact  broadhead (like you are using), you should be fine.

Make sure the hear is Razor sharp and you will be fine. My wife and I are heading on a bear hunt soon as well and She shoots the same pondage with a 507 gr arrow and it work super. If you rig kills deer it will kill a bear

Bears are easy to shoot through. As long as your BH is sharp, you should be good to go.

Have you ever thought of a heavier arrow setup? As an example, I have a 42# recurve bow and all of my shots are 20 yards or less so speed is not important to me. A quiet bow is important to me. With that said, my 42# recurve shoots a very heavy 642 grain arrow which equates to 15.28 grains per pound (GPP) and the bow is very quiet upon arrow release. I practice at 10, 15 and 20 yards. The heavy arrow really wallops my Morrell Yellow Jacket Supreme field point bag target at 20 yards since it penetrates very deeply. In fact, it's destroying my bag target. As an added bonus, there is very little drop in arrow trajectory from 10-20 yards. I've shot the 642 grain arrow through a chronograph and the arrow is traveling at 151 fps. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a black bear with this poundage and arrow setup combined with a very sharp two blade broadhead.
