where is the best place to shop for used wool?

As in "garments"...shirts, vests, pants?  Goodwill would be a good place to start.  Here on the classifieds, there are some pieces for sale now.

I don't know what SA you guys shop at, but after looking in NJ and in VT I came up with the sum total of one wool shirt.  Now it is a nice one (Pendelton with tan black and brown small checks) and it only cost $5 plus cleaning,  but still...........

I got a woolrich pull over half zipper in the front for $7 at my local Salvation Army.  There is all kinds of old wool with dark patterns there, just not my size.

I get mine from goodwill as well.  I've never found a wool shirt but I find plenty of wool sweaters.  I particulary like the lamb's wool sweaters and buy every one I find in my size.

Know every thrift store from here to George Stout's house. 2nd hand wool is cheap & reliable. Much prefer Penbroke Scottish Virgin Wool. Heavier & tighter knit. Does virgin wool come from ugly sheep?

I agree with the goodwill sayers but don't forget to look at Ron LaClair's longhunter shirts and Fred Asbell's wool pullovers.  Those are outstanding garments for reasonable prices.

Goodwill / Salvation Army can produce some real treasures--before you wear have them dry cleaned!!! I've got a buddy got a nasty case of scabies from one-----EEEWWWW

I shoot better when I am wearing my Filson shirts and camo double Mac.  But I got some really tight Swedish military pants for $8 a pair that are as good as anything I have ever found.  Sportsman's Guide had them at one time as well as other outlets of military salvage stuff.

I've found antique shops to be a gold mine for Woolrich hunting coats and pants. Usually 25-35$. Just hard to find normal sizes- guys must have been smaller in the 50's & 60's

See alot of used wool at the salvation army. Also seen some good deals on new at sierra trading post site.

Those old WW11 wool sweaters are my favorites for deer and turkey, comes in olive green.
