I am amazed at how smooth todays short bows can be.In the day we shot longer bows to get the smooth draw.

You're right snag.  Just shot one for the first time today over at Mudd's.  He just got it.  I don't think I will be able to talk him out of it!  I'm looking for my first traditional bow and he spoiled me on my very first day.
