Burr oak acorns on a fence row or in the woods

We have acorns dropping like crazy around here from Burr Oaks. My question is whether you guys would hunt them dropping near a fenceline close to a corner of a field, or hunt the acorns up in the woods for an evening hunt? I can get a climber stand up in either place.  Saturday is the deer bowhunting opener, but I literally just got permission earlier this week on this property and haven't done much scouting.

So would you hunt the acorns in the woods or on the fenceline for an evening hunt? The area is surrounded by chest/head high CRP and brush and the deer bed all around the area.

Thanks,

LeverActionman

Really hard to say all you can do is pick one and keep yours eyes open for deer moving else where.I like hunting the woods but field edges will be hard to beat in the evening.

I like fencelines, ditch rows, etc. especially where there is also some food! Good luck to you!

If that wooded fenceline hooks up to another woods I would give that some serious consideration myself. I hunt fence lines that are wooded here in Champaign County, Ohio and they are very good.

You have a gold mine there my friend!! the best season of bow hunting I've ever had was in a crop of burr oaks.  I the wind will let you I would hunt the corner 25 to 30 back and let it happen.  Good Luck!!

If there are acorns in the woods, they will stay in the woods until they run out. Deer like shelter. If they run out then the fenceline will be great stand in the evening about an hour before dusk.

If they bed down in the woods, however, stay out of there or they'll be gone acorns or not. And it's a bit late for you to find that out now. On second thought, set up by the fenceline. Put 2 stands up so you can switch depending on the wind.

Good luck. That's going to be nice hunting

They can feed in the fence line undetected as well since there is a secondary line of thin brush running in front of it with about a 9 yard gap in between them.
