Bearpaw fletching jig
« on: September 25, 2010, 05:59:00 PM »
I am thinking about trying a Bearpaw fletching jig because it looks like the adjustments are a lot easier and quicker to use than a Bitz. For those who have used the bearpaw fletching jig, how long is the clamp? My Bitz has a 6 1/2" clamp. I use a lot of 5 1/2" feathers for some of the people that I make arrows for. Some of them like the feathers a little farther from the nock than others. Also does the magnet that holds the clamp to the base seem to be as strong as the magnet on a Bitz. I have used other fletchers that have a very weak magnet.

Thanks in advance, Rick

Rick, the clamp is JUST a hair over 5 1/2". The magnet is very strong. They are nice, still not sure if its as good as a Bitz though, never used a Bitz.

I like it better than the the Bitz--replaced all mine with these new jigs. The adjustments are easier and the contact with the shafts also easier to fine tune. I never did get the hang of the Bitz...
