A few scouting pics
« on: September 26, 2010, 11:18:00 AM »
Its been really hot down here lately and my love of sitting a deer stand is overcome of late by sweat dripping from my nose in 92 degree weather at 6:30 in the afternoon...
I decided to do a good bit of scouting to line up some hot spots for when the weather hopefully cools some. Here are a few pics. Keep in mind I am willing to shoot deer or pigs so my best find would be food or sign that draws both.Gotta love hunting a south Ga swamp. All on public land .RC

Palmetto berries. Great for deer and pork. These are about to get right and are in a funnel as well...

Found a heck of a crossing on a deep slew. It had deer and pig tracks a plenty and as acorns begin to fall this sign will pick up even more because the land on one side is a thick wet bedding swamp and the other a more open oak filled ridge. Water oaks , swamp chestnuts and red oaks ..something of the three will drop...

This is about 75 yards on the dry side of the crossing..

stand already hung on the crossing. I have good luck on bucks on crossings and funnels so I`m excited about this spot.

The stand that was on the wet side some fella used in the past did`nt look safe..Summit or Lone Wolf or "Neck Breaker"...I think the last one.

In another spot I found one of my favorite foods for deer. Despite what some folks say Pigs don`t eat crabbappls. I been hunting pigs and deer a long time in areas loaded with them and have never seen a porker eat one.But they are great for deer.

A purty hornets nest..

Another crossing...

A suana...

Gotta have a pic of the river..

And for the fellas that are coming down hunting in October this is where you`ll be staying..lol.

Very Nice! I learned a long time ago to respect spots other hunters have chosen for stands! I'll bet it is a good one. Looks like you'd need a Therma cell in that area!

RC, that crossing pic under the hornet's nest pic sure looks like you will have some action there. Plenty of traffic, and if you can catch some cooler weather you are set! Good luck, thanks for posting pics.
