Steve I have a PLII. I think the new PL's are much better than the older LAG bows. I think they are fine bows built by a company that has great customer service and a good waranty.
There are faster bows and maby better looking. The Widow is high priced but not if you get a used one and not if you consider you won't ever have any problem with the bowyer.
My PL shoots a variety of arrows and points very well.It is very easy to tune.It is an easy bow to shoot well. It is very quiet. Very little hand shock. All around a great hunting bow.

I figger it's just a matter of time and money before I go to the dark side

IMO the newer BW longbows are considerably better than the old design, at least comparing the ones I've shot. Something to consider if you are looking to buy used.

I have a couple. They're everything the other lads have said. They're strong, too. Do a search on this site, I'm sure you'll find plenty of information and other opinions on them.

great bows, like all widows, they are very stable and shoot where ya point it. I have buddies that have them and swear by em.. everyone is right about the LAG (older one)

Steve,
I have a new PLGA and I think you would look long and hard to fine a prettier bow. I have owned other Black Widows and all have been well made and shoot well for me. There are a few faster bows out there, but Widows are pretty good performer also. I have owned alot of bows in the past, but always seem to have a Black Widow of some sort. A very hard working bow that is built to last. My PLGA and my ACS CX are two bows that will never be for sale!

I've owned quite a few widows. I'll admit, most of them were recurves. Then I switched to longbows. I tried the widows but I was never as pleased with them as several other longbows that I have come to love. I have a Thunderstick MOAB and a Kota Prairie Nomad 3 piece takedown that cost less and shoot better for me. I have a long draw and that might have something to do with it but I never did like the handle on the Widow longbows. I think there are a lot of bows with more comfortable handles if that is important to you. It is to me! Just my two cents.

I have 9 longbows at the present and the BW will be the next one. I shot the PL the other day and was VERY impressed.

Got one....love it!!
People talk about faster bows....BUT...Widows are noted for the ability to shoot heavy arrows amazingly fast.
I'm leaving for a hog hunt tomorrow with a 51.5 lb. Graybark PLII...and a 630 grain arrow.
Buddy...when it hits...it hits with authority!!

G'day again Pastor Steve,
I've just posted in the '07 Highlights:
http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=98;t=000014
There are some photos of my Black Widow PLX's accomplishments thus far this year.
All the best with your decision.

Mike,
That is not the standard grip. I always prefer more of a recurve than a longbow grip, so my wife ordered it with the old style SAG/LAG grip, for me.

I have a PLV T/D and its as good as it gets. I don't know or care if its the fastest. What I do care about is that is so well built that I am not afraid to take it on any hunt as I know it will not fail me in any way. The finish is so tough I have yet to put any apreciable scratches in it. It is dead in the hand when shot, silent, and the take down system( the new sleeve) is the best I've ever seen.I used to have over 20 bows now its just 4 Widows. Frank
