What do you do when you lost your desire to hunt?

I break out the ol' camera, or go for a ride on the scooter. Sometimes a guy simply needs to do something different for a while.

I go to walmart, look at all the high prices of beef and pork, think about all the preservatives, horomones etc. I then go home, sharpen broadheads, shoot my bow and make a pot of deer chili, and fill up my feeders. If the prices of meat dont get you motivated, and good food cooking, dont know what will. Works for me and the wife evey time!

I fish, backpack, mountain climb, chase the wife around, this is a long, long list.  Everyone needs to take a break now and then.  Plan a hunt somewhere new.  Take up bowfishing. etc.....

I hear yea Magnus, I'm in a rut myself. But the guys are right..take a break. There's plenty of season left to get out there.
I would like to added that sometimes just changing your hunting up can get the juices going again.

I look at hunting differently I don't view hunting as a single scope event. Alot of times I'm wildlife viewing with a bow in my hand. Don't limit yourself to bowhunting while you are a field, allow yourself space to change gears.

I either play guitar, go on canoe trips, or go cruisin' for babes on my sit-up straight bicycle.

Don't worry about it. Usually it is just a case of burn out and the urge will eventually return. If not, do what ever else it is that makes you happy. There is more to life than hunting, no matter how important it may seem to many of us on this site - including me.

After reading about your situation over in the Prayer concerns forum I think maybe your lack of drive/desire has more to do with situational depression than anything archery related.

In your case I can see where hunting might be a wrong choice for you right at the moment.
If you're like me and a bunch of other folks sitting a stand leads to thinking because when I sit, I think.

Hang in there Matt. Keep your mind and hands occupied and take life one step at a time.

It might even come down to just focusing on one minute at a time.

Whatever you do, don't avoid talking with supportive people. If you don't have anyone around, seek them out.

I am truly sorry that you are going through a very difficult time in your life.

I am praying God's peace and assurance for you.

With the love of Christ
God bless,Mudd

I have not lost my drive to hunt, but I guess I don't go as crazy as I used to about it.  I still get out as much as possible and go hard at it, but I can tell the excitement level has come down just a little.  I would spend more time with God and the family.  I try and do the first while hunting and soon the kids will be old enough to do the second while hunting.    Helping others is a great thing to do also.  Maybe help a kid get into archery or hunting. You can get a new outlook and excitement for something by seeing it develop in others.

I'm with Mudd.  I hope you know you always have God to talk to.  Seems like other things are at play here.  For almost all of us, hunting is recreation.  It's tough to recreate when you are really sad.  Peace.
Take a kid hunting!
