Went shooting at Muddman's house
« on: October 02, 2010, 08:44:00 PM »
Went and shot with Mudd today. This is the first ceremonial planting of a dead arrow in the dead arrow garden.

We did a lot of shooting and haggling  over a bow before taking a trip to the Atlatl throw. This will be the first year in Missouri that one can use an Atlatl for deer in gun season. Some of these guy’s are fairly good at 15 or so yards.

I would have taken some pictures of Mudd and I but the camera  is fairly new and I didn't want to brake it.

I’m thinking I’ll stay with my bow and arrow.  It was fun to watch them throw the darts but there is no beauty  in their design. Very little control in the throw.

That's cool, I've never tried to use a Atlatl & one day I'd like to try but I think I'll be better suited with my bow as well.

Tom Mills, here in southern California, frequently does our local 3D shoots with an atlatl. He consistently scores higher with those long darts than many of the archers... me included. If he weren't such a nice guy it would be easy to dislike shooting with him.

My hat's off to anyone who could kill a deer with atlatl that would be quite a feat.
