B55 Flemish String Free to good home
« on: October 03, 2010, 10:05:00 AM »
I was tinkering with the string jig and wanted to see if the measurement spots were on. Made a string 51.5" long with brown and green string. 14 strand. It has nice twist but it's too short for what I have. So now I know what should be made on what mark. I'm stuck with this too-short-for-my-bow string that I can't use. String is round in the body and waxed pretty good.

Unserved. Untrimmed.

Free to the first poster who wants it.

It'll twist down to a smaller length.

Thats an odd length for sure! I have a Kodiak mag that needs one, but I think that may be too much twisting. Nice offer!

Using a jig pattern from the net I marked the jig as per the intructions. But my first string I made for my Grizzly was too long going by the marks. This one I'm giving away was made on the 52 mark. My Grizz needs a 54" string. Just testing the waters. Now I know the Grizz needs a string on the 54 mark. The net instructions were confusing as it stated that the marks were not for the string length, but the bow length. The AMO on the Grizz is 58". I just mark the jig at that mark for my Grizz and go! I have enough string material to outlast this bow and me.  :)

Still learning. Love to tinker.

The actual string length is 51.5. It hasn't been shot in so it will stretch some. If you need a 52" string this one would be just about right, but measure a string you already use and see what that measurement is.

Like I said, the Grizz shows a 58AMO, but takes a 54" string.

If it'll work for you, you can have it, but measure a shot-in string from your bow and let me know.

Bud

Just remeasured it off the bow and stretched out with tips of looks pointed outward. Off-bow and measured the best I could by myself it shows 51.25". With loops around bow tip nocks likely a flat 51" as it is now. Unstretched. Unshot.

If you get it and it doesn't fit, just re-gift:)

Nope.

This B55 likes as little twist as possible to prevent brace height woes. I've found what suits mine. This one was made just as a reinforcementso I'd know that the mark I used previously was spot on. One of those "just had to see" things.
