Last to start? Chomping at the bit!
« on: October 03, 2010, 04:38:00 PM »
Tough living in Alabama.  Can't start deer hunting till Oct 15 when it seems like everyone else has already begun.  Killing time sorting gear, airing out the wool, checking the stands, etc.  Come on Oct 15 - get here already!

Thank goodness for Tradgang where I can catch some stories and see some pics from you guys!

West Virginia doesn't open until Oct. 16 so you're not the last to start.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Northwest Florida does not start until 23 Oct.  We use to start the same day as Alabama, but they changed the date this year.  But we get to hunt until Feb 28.  Perhaps we are the last to open and close?

South Carolina low country season Aug 15 - Jan 1st. Sorry didn't mean to rub it in. I live in Ca now but will be going home soon I hope. I miss so much about home. The grass is almost never greener on the other side.

Did you say wool and you live in Alabama? What does the temp get down to? And sorry you have to wait to hunt.

IIRC, your limit is 2 deer a day, every day. Naaww, I don't feel bad for ya. It'll come and you'll be in the deer soon enough. Deer season is the only time I miss living in Montgomery.

You could be in Maine. Regular license is good for 1 deer. Gotta hunt expanded urban zones or draw a bonus tag to get more.

We get some early morning teens here - typically in the 20s though.  Sometimes it seems like the coldest place on earth!  Pretty sorry coming from a Yankee.  I miss the Pennsylvania seasons and snow but I swear I get colder on stand here???

yeah, it really is worth the wait for the long season and big bag limits.

the comments about the wool really are funny, because it really is hot as the dickens for about the first month and a half.
