DAS question cavalier 300 or off the shelf?

I got my first DAS last year and took it Elk hunting , once I was drawing and the noise from the cavalier rest was unreal since it was so quiet, do any of you shoot off the shelf with hunting bows to ensure there is no squeky violin noise as you draw back?
Also I noticed that you have to be careful with the cavalier 300 spring steel flipper, they can come off during a hunt .
So the question is should I go off the shelf with the two das bows making them more dependable for hunting  I have one elite 21" riser and the other a gen 1 "i like it better than the new gen 2" riser so there is better dependability?
I will do the same to both risers.

Ok, first off you can only shoot one bow at a time so send me that Elite and I will tune it to shoot off the shelf for you.I should have it ready in a couple years.LOL

I shoot my Dalaa off the shelf but will try the plunger and rest after the 3D season.Seriously though sounds like you would have a confidence issue in the rest so I would shoot off the shelf if I could get good flight for no other reason.Also you really do have some nice bows.

I shot my Dalaa off the shelf with good results.  But, I wanted to be better.

I ordered the "Shorty" plunger made for the Dalaa and sold by 3 Rivers.  The Cavalier T-300 was my choice of rests.

Excellent combination, though I'd guess there are countless combinations just as good.

IMMEDIATELY --- by that I mean the very first few arrows I shot --- upon going to the Shorty/T-300, my shooting took a jump forward.  

It's a minor expense (i.e.$50) that's full of potential.  I'll bet you'd like it.

You wouldn't shoot off the shelf without some kind of covering,( velcro, sealskin, moleskin), so just cover the rest and plunger.  I use Dr. Scholl's moleskin.  There is no comparison in achieving the best arrow flight.

For dependability on a rugged hunt, you might look at the NAP centerest.  I've got one on my DAS and it is just about bombproof.  I do like the plunger better, but this might be what your looking for.

When I got my DAS (and my wife's) we started off shooting off the shelf. In my "stuff" I found some old Saunders rests and plungers and decided to play a bit with them. I had shot recurves this way in the past when I was more competitive. The first thing I noticed was a significant (noticeable to me) increase in arrow speed. I also was able to tune my arrows more precisely to my bow which made my shooting more consistent and accurate (how about a head shot on a squirrel at 65 yards)? The rest I use is no longer being made but it is a hard rubber-like material and not too different than the Bear Weather rest. I keep it and the plunger quiet simply by adding a piece of mole skin around the arm of the rest and another across the button on the plunger. Here's what it looks like...hope you can see what I have done...on the mole skin over the plunger I colored it black with a sharpie pen but no longer do that...not necessary.
