Quick question...

What is the best solution for patching/repair of the vital area of a 3d foam deer target? Thanks in advance, Paul

They make some stuff that you mix together and patch them.  I have shot some that have been repaired and it's seems to work alright.  On the targets that I have shot that had been repaired it seemed that my sons arrows were prone to bounce off and many other people said their childrens arrows did to.  If you just want a quick cheap fix I would think it would be good.  I've also heard of people trying spray foam but I've never heard anyone say if it worked.

Spray expansion foam does work well. You fill in all your damaged areas, let it expand into all the nooks and crannys and dry, and then shave off the excess with a hacksaw blade. Not as tough as the original target, but alot cheaper than buying a new one. I shoot Grizzly sticks with big STOS heads and it works just fine. Any hardware store.

x2 spray foam spray a little at a time and let it cure.then reapply.

i fix mine with great stuff..you can put some old t shirts in it before you fill it and it will help with fp.not that good for bhs

X3 for the foam.  I have shot ALOT of spray foam.  Like YORNOC said, not as tough, but works great.

I have to say I went to Dicks and bought a Big Cube target it is a cheap($20.00) target thats foam. I shoot from my living room threw the house into the kitchen. And this target stops broadheads from my 70lb Hill. My point is that if you get one you can use a hand saw and cut blocks to fit the vitals of your deer target. and at $20.00 you can get 4-6 blocks out of a target.

Great Stuff!  I fixed bucky a month a ago and holding up quite well.  One key is to not put a lot of foam in at one time.  If you put too much in it takes longer for it to dry.  Do it in layers.  Also, you want to wrap the area you are foaming with saran wrap to hold everything in.

My wife got me a kit of the 3D target repair from Lancaster.Easy to use and does a great job!! I won't use Great Stuff and plastic bags no more.
