First use for new Ghillie?

What is the best thing to do to a new ghillie to prep it for hunting.  Washing?  Spraying?  Putting it in a hole of dirt?  How do you treat your ghillie to use to take the oder away?

I turn mine inside out to keep the material from fraying. Wash it on gentle cycle, rinse in baking soda, hang it out to dry. Mine is few years old now and I honestly can't remember that it smelled any worse than any other new hunting gear that I buy. What brand did you buy and what material is it made of.

My optometrist is a bow hunter and he had a burlap ghille that he said was too hot and eventually rotted away. I got the light weight ghillie  that Cabela's sells and it is very nice.

I got the Bowhunter Longcoat from Rancho Safari.

Mine is Rancho Safari as well, and I have a friend who has the longcoat that you have. What I have described above works well and I have had deer so close that it was my heavy breathing that alerted them. Enjoy!

Water, baking soda and a small amount of hunter soap in a five gallon bucket.
 
Wash and rinse a few times.

Hang outside to dry then put it loosely into a black  garbage bag with fresh lawn clippings or better yet actual cuttings from the woods you hunt.

 Place in a sunny spot changing out clippings and rotating the material a few times.
 
Do this until you feel the smell is bearable.
