That sinking stuff reminds me of my kids! There is a big spring that feeds a cat tail swamp just behind my house a few hundred yards. The cat tail swamp is maybe 2 acres. My kids are fascinated with it. They have learned it's just not doable in the warm weather but as soon as theres a freeze they start venturing out on it. Everytime at least one comes hom bootless! 1000 years from know some archeologist is gona swear there was a rubber boot factory there! i bet the boys have got 60-70 pairs in there already!

Nice story Dave!  You paint the tale well.

Good luck out there this year.

Tidal mud can be much the same. I've sunk thigh deep before in the stuff.  Seems like I heard of someone dying in mud in AK last year.  Got stuck and couldn't get free before the tide returned.
