I've only named a couple of my bows. The others have not "earned" their names as yet. IMHO, things or inanimate objects must earn their names, not like you would name a child or a dog. For example, my Harley Davidson is named after a long time informant before I retired from law enforcement. Her name was Pearl. While her "private life" was filled with questionable morals, as a informant she never once gave wrong or misleading information and was totally reliable. The same is true for my 2002 H-D. Besides, I could NEVER throw my leg over something named Bruce and ride off into the sunset. :D
The first bow I named was a Jeff Massie forward handle longbow made from black walnut and hickory. It was and still is a sweet shooting bow. My wife's middle name is Sue, hence the bow's name became "Sweet Sue".
The next bow I named was also a Massie bow. It was one of Jeff's first few Longhorn models. It is all osage (riser and limbs with a strip of carbon). I've made more double lung shots with it than any other bow I have. It's "earned" name is "Hemothorax" or bloody chest.
I had another longbow that quickly earned the name "Thumper". I won't say who made it and for obvious reasons I no longer have "Thumper".
Several more of my bows are in the process of earning their names. But as yet, they haven't quite achieved that level.
