I was just wondering why the 59 Kodiak is so popular? I noticed on **** the prices go very high for this model. I was just curious. Thanks for the advice.

Just take a Gander at some of the 59 Kodiak's on the "Bear" thread and that should answer it all. They are some of the nicest looking and shooting bows ever made a True Classic by any definition.

(60-60-60) 1960, 60" 60#@28 #1 in my book.
It amazes me that the "Butcher Block" riser which was nothing more than a way to use up all the scrap rosewood, now it is amongst the very most sought after. I guess it's supply and demand.

I've got a 64", 65# 1960 Kodiak and am very impressed by how this bow shoots.  Extremely quiet and fast with no vibration.  I've never shot a 1959 so can't speak about that bow.  I think the 1960 Kodiaks have a little more hook in the curves compared to the '59s.  I tried a new Robertson curve on a test drive that was about the same poundage, and the old Bear outshot it.  I sent the Robertson back and still have the '60 Kodiak.

Just goes to show how hard it is to predict or understand scarcity or what collector's crave.  I have a '59 Grizzly that is simply beautiful and shoots awesome too.
