Went to my spot in Oklahoma to try and get a deer or two. Monday I got set up in my natural ground blind 1/2 hr before daylight and settled in to await the dawn and awakening of the woods. First the crows and then the squirles and other birds started thier morning show. About 7:30 a doe was working her way out of the thick bedding area and then she hung up just inside the thick stuff munching acorns. She never presented a clear shot. No other deer seen. I packed up and headed to the cabin for lunch and a nap at 10:30.
That afternoon I got set up again about 3:30 and settled in to see what would come in. Nothing but crows, squirles, jays, and other birds putting on a great show making me smile. No deer showed themselves. So back to cabin at dark for supper and sleep.
Next morning I was again set up before daylight and again only crows, squirles, jays and such. I was stumped, when I was here in September hog hunting, I saw 10 deer per sit. I was stumped for an answer until at 11:00 when getting ready to leave, I got a visit from the landowners two goat dogs. They are Great Pyrenees. He had moved the goats to this pasture and the cows to the other one. Dogs and deer do not mix. I was going to hunt the bottoms this afternoon, but it started pouring down rain and has not stopped yet. Will try again next week.
This well used trail runs behind my setup
The doe is in the dark area my arrow is pointing at. Can't see her in the pic, but she is there.
Another view of the corner. The deer travel the fence line.
