I've been laid off for quite awhile, so I would trade places with you in a heartbeat.....if that makes you feel any better? I know it doesn't and I've been in your shoes....it sucks.
I can remember trying to go in early and plan my day around peeling out of work at 2:30 or 3pm at the lastest so I could fly down the highway to my hunting property lease a mere 30min. away and if I kept my eyes peeled I could make it in 20min.
I'd hop out of the truck, strip down to my boxers, crawl into my camo, grab my bow, and almost in a stiff walk/slow trot I'd get to my stand as quick as possible. I would be in the stand 15min. before my adrenaline finally subsided enough to calm down and relax.
More times than I can count on those whirlwind Fridays doing the flight of the bumble bee to get to the woods, I'd have a blood trail to track within an hour after getting there. I've even had deer start showing up while I'm pulling my bow up the string to my stand.
Sometimes minutes do count!
