Leon Stewart Slammer 1 Piece

Im have been tring to Horse swap for a 1 piece Stewart Slammer or a Used one,I don't want to spend a Grand and find out it is like the other 30 bows I bought this year..If any body has on show some pics or Chat about them,He claims No Hand Shock,,If that is the case I want one,My idea bow is a Longbow That looks close to a Hill but Shoots like my ACS if that is possible,The ole D shape is what I like about his with the Dished grip,Gimmie some imput somebody that has a 1 piece Only..Thanks Jerry

I have a Leon Stewart Slammer special 50 @ 28  sixty inches long.  It is very smooth drawing with little if any hand shock.  i have owned several ACS (A & H as well as Adcocks).  Performance wise, the Slammer isn't quite as fast but is fast enough.

I have one of his new one piece super slammers, 60" bow and it is as advertised.  No hand shock, very quiet, and shoots a fast arrow where you look.  I really like it.

Jerry the Stewart bow you describe is not the Slammer but the R&D bow. The Stewart R&D bow is the old school look,no hand shock, quick, and an abrupt stop at the shot, no hand shock or vibration just a sudden stop to the draw and release cycle. The slammer that Randy describes is as as radical as it can get in his line, lots of reflex/deflex and faster than the R&D bow. Locator grips on both were made for a purpose and that is a no nonsense grip the same each time you pick it up. I have owned both and I have owned ACS, I still have the slammer as I just like the way it shot despite not looking totally old school. I have sold many a bow but my slammer stays and to be 100% honest with you I use it to benchmark all of the bows I have owned and moved down the road. Good luck in your pursuit. tom massaro

      Slammers are it. I have been trying Leon's bows at various shoots for years now. It was to the point where I either had to order one or start paying him each time I found him at a shoot.

 They are everything he says they are. Super smooth,no hand shock,and exceptional cast.Everyone I have ever shot has been a shooter. Mine will be done in a couple months.

 As far as the "D" bows, take Tom's advice to the bank,he knows them well.

Im familiar with the RD bows but the Slammer is what I was talking about,as far as the D shape I was comparing it to my 1 piece ACS I just got,I guess I need to bite the bullet and hope you guys are on the same thought pattern as me,,Thanks for the imput...FYI I might put a Brand New 1 piece ACS on some one for a slammer,,Maybe..Gonna give it a few more days..Take care...

I have a Slammer Special 60" 49@28. Smooth drawing, no hand shock, excellent cast and shoots where you look. They're also bomb proof. I to use Leon's bows as a bench mark to judge other bows. I started with a three piece Slammer 64" 54@28 (still have) and have shot many of his bows.

I have a 3 pc. R/D Leon Stewart that I purchased at a rendezvous used. I decided this year to get a custom made bow and went to the rende. for this sole purpose. I shot all kinds of bows until my arms were going to fall off. My friends from the local archery club made me promise I would try a Leon Stewart, out of all the bows I shot that day, I think that the Stewart was the smoothest. It took me no time to get on the targets all the way out to 40 yds. Whenever I shoot this bow people comment on how fast it is, I can't really notice because I am coming from a wheeler. I can tell you that you can't go wrong getting a Stewart bow. The only problem I have with the bow is that it's too pretty to take into the woods hunting, had to buy another bow for that purpose.

Matt, if you go to his web site under sponsor classifieds and scroll down through the longbows you will see the big difference in the profile. There is also a pretty good description of it in the text. When I say "benchmark" it is primarily in terms of shootability and inherent accuracy. From my opinion these bows are not touchy to shoot, and handle a variety of arrows. The 62 inch R&D is real sweet shooters,smooth drawing and responsive. Someone has mentioned it above and that is his bows flat out cast an arrow. In the past couple years Leon has been working with some real neat wood veneers and so his bows are very easy on the eyes as Randy can tell you. tm

I have a 3pc Slammer on order. I shot a 1pc at ETAR and loved it from the first shot. A gentleman next to me commented that he never heard the bow shoot but did hear the arrow hit the target. So it is a quiet bow. It hit where I aimed from the very first shot and was great in my hand. No hand shock at all. 55@28 60" 15" riser.

I should have my bow in hand in December. Just in time for the late Archery season in PA. I can't wait.

Pleasing to the eye, smooth to draw, with no stacking, pretty fast ( so I am told as I am coming from a wheeler ), no hand shock, I have shot arrows which were spined  for 40 - 65 lbs. with no noticeable adverse effects, in other words very accurate, my Stewart is 46lbs @ 27.
