interesting morning for bucks
« on: November 07, 2010, 08:47:00 AM »
On Saturday am, I saw a button buck come down a trail, licking branches and then stopped at a scrape 8 yards from my treestand site.  I did a practice draw on him and he spooked just a little.  Later had a humorous 8 point come into the same scrape but he was coming downwind and spooked just a little before I could get a shot.  He just moved off about 20 yards, put his nose to the ground and walked off.  Later yet saw a 6 point chase doe, they galloped around me 3 different times.  I rattled some this am and called it a 6 point, maybe the same one and a 4 point.  It was such as interesting morning so I did not really want to take a shot except the big 8 point or a doe.  This is in an area where I sometimes go 3-4 years without ever seeing a buck.  Interestingly, I only saw the one doe.

I have the same type of area that is electric right now as well. Its a just a perfect rut funnel. Once all cools down it will be not much good again until next year. Its a narrow wooded strip between field and river, maybe 80-100 yards wide or so. Seems like I see different bucks daily right now.
