new to carbons

Have been experimenting with these things for about a year now. The forward weight amazes me to the flight of the arrow from a #50 bow. My problem is gluing the inserts. Have tried a number of adhesives with little luck. The lattest try is with Fletch-Tite platinim and the inserts pull out in the target. Two part epoxy  for my next try ?????????

I shoot Beman MFX Classic carbons. They come with a 2-part epoxy. Once in they ain't coming out.  I wouldn't trust fletch tite on that end of the arrow.

Oh, if you cut the carbons be sure to use a bit of 91% alcohol (cue tip) to clean the inside of the shaft before gluing the insert (and let the alcohol dry).

Thanks Bow, did not cut the shaft, gorrilla arms make me shoot the whole arra. Good advise and taken to heart. Wood arras are so much easier to understand. Thanks again

I use hot melt glue (stuff you can buy in bulk at walmart).  Works great.  I have the occasional pull out but typically under extreme conditions and no worse than any other adhesive I have used. I know someone is going to say something about the heat and carbon, but afters several years I have had no problems on compounds or traditional bows.  This is low heat glue and I never heat the shaft itself.

I use a 22 cal gun brush on drill to scuff inside of shaft and clean with alcohol or acetone on cue tip.

Clean insert with alcohol or acetone.

I cover hole in the back end of insert with small piece of tape.  You do not want epoxy getting inside the insert or you may not be able to seat the tip.

I use 2 part 5 min epoxy. but a dab inside of shaft and thin coat on insert.

I use a dull broadhead to set the insert since I shoot three blade and prefer having the V on top so I am not looking at a blade in my sight picture.

I second hot melt. Same outcome as Chris Sims for me. Ocassional pull out, but easy and adjustable still. I line my broad heads up so they fit better in my quiver.

Very important to clean arrow and insert with alcohol before putting together.

Epoxy works every time when it comes to carbon arrows.

I like hot melt .It stays pliable . I hit lots of rocks and epoxy type stuff breaks up on inpact.

Kimsha quick stick hot melt glue I got it from 3 Rivers and haven't lost an insert since.

If you use hot melt use the yellow it is stronger than the white. I tried ferltite but it didn't hold up on hard impact. Epoxy or JB weld is best if you never want to remove or rotate the insert.

I have been having inserts pull out of my Carbon Express arrow with two part epoxy, even after roughing and cleaning eh inside of the arrow and the brass inserts.  I might have to try the hot melt, now where did I put that?

Deburr the inside of the shaft, clean with qtip dipped in alcohol, and I use Goat tuff.
