Equalizer Climbing Stands
« on: November 17, 2010, 09:50:00 AM »
Does anybody here have an opinion on the equalizer climber stands. I have a viper classic climber that is just kind of heavy and am thinking about upgrading next year. I love my climber, but constantly struggle with the leveling issues when in the field. This equalizer climber has a geared cable system for on the climb leveling adjustments. My only questions are about whether or not the gears can freeze up in the cold, and whether they have a tendancy to slip over time, requiring replacement. If anybody has some experience, I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks, and good hunting

Check these out, they have a bowhunter model that will be lighter than the equalizer.

I looked into them, and i can't find anyone with one in stock. I like the idea of being able to level the stand out as well. Bill

I got one when they first came out and like it a lot. However...the gear stripped out on the top section the first yr. I had it. I may have stripped it winding it up while sitting on it..don't know. I don't think you are suppose to wind them up with weight on them. I still use it just have to hold up the section when winding it up. It came with a plywood, cushioned seat and I bought an API seat to use on it.

I have Summits, API and Lone Wolf climbers also and like the Equalizer best for hunting with my flintlocks. Don't like it or any other climber with rails using my 64" recurve.

I have one and it is on the heavy side.  Do not wind them up with weight on them.  I take my weight off the stand by standing to adjust the top piece and lifting my feet to adjust the bottom.
