Archery, Politics, and a Word For The Day

Interesting....but perhaps you already knew.....

'Detente' is a French word (pronounced day-TANT) used in reference to the easing of tension or relaxing of strained relations between two countries, political parties, rivals, etc.

From Wikipedia:  " The term is often used in reference to the general easing of relations between the Soviet Union and the United States in the 1970s...."

In Old French, 'Detente' was first used to express the act of SLACKING THE BOW STRING, removing tension from the bow, thus the modern day application of 'easing tension' and 'relaxing of strained relations'.

For whatever its worth...Good Hunting, and keep your string taut.
