Thanksgiving Turkey Wingbone Call Build Along
« on: November 25, 2010, 07:52:00 PM »
Here is the build along

You need all three wing bones

Clean the meat off the bones. (none went to waste    :goldtooth:   )

After the meat is cleaned off cut the tops and bottoms off the bones.

Now boil the bones in water with a little peroxide added in.
Boil for 5 to 8 mins.

After boiling dry the bones.

Now comes the work of cleaning our the marrow. I used a toot pick and rattail file. I also would blow on the bones to clear out the marrow.

Let the bones dry over night.

Tomorrow I'll be fitting and gluing the three pieces together.

Are these out of a store bought bird?  Dang it, why didn't I think of this.  Time to dig through the trash...

So the bones are bone dry and its time to fit them and glue them up. For fitting I had to cut a small piece off the middle section so it would fit inside the large section. Then I wrapped some electrical tape on the small section so it would fit snuggly inside the middle section. Artificial sinew or something like that will also work to get the pice to fit snuggly.

After I test fit the pieces a few times I glued it up using guerilla glue. Epoxy or something like that would work also.

After the glue set up I had to seal the joints. I used silicone to get air tight seal.

There's only one step left. To decorate it...

Glad you guys are enjoying it!

I just tested it and it took a while to get the hang of it but after I found the right positioning in my mouth it sounds great. Basically you place it on your bottom lip and suck in.

Here is the call all decorated.

I used a fine point sharpie.

I've been practicing with the call and I've found that it works best toward the corner of my mouth.
