New bowstring and wood arrows
« on: November 29, 2010, 09:17:00 AM »
So basically my season is over now (unless I get the courage to go out in December, still a possibilty) and I'm already pacing the house looking for something to do. So I tried making up a set of wood arrows. It was alot easier than what I thought and the results were well worth it. Yes it does take more time to get an arrow ready to go but since I'm in no rush, why not take my time and do them right.
Well after that went so well I decided to try building a bowstring. So I ordered some supplies, B55 string, nylon serving, Doing the Twist DVD, made myself a string jig and went to work. I'll admit the first two came out Ok, but a bit too much cabling. Watched the video one more time and the third string came out perfect. And the nylon serving fits real good with my wood arrow nocks.
So know I know what I'll be doing the rest of the winter, build arrows and strings, and maybe a little hunting.

Sounds like a plan to me. How do you like the B55 string material? Been using the B50 forever and was thinking about trying the 55 myself.

So far the B55 "feels" just like the B50. Really don't have enough shooting time with it, but it made a real nice string.
