Comfortable deerstand?
« on: December 03, 2010, 06:39:00 PM »
Looking for a new deerstand and it needs to be roomy and comfortable for long hunts. It will be left in a proven area over the whole season so it doesnt matter how heavy or difficult it is to hang.  ladder or hang on doesnt matter.  must have a comfortable seat and be quiet.

Any sugestions?  Would especially like to hear from any sponsors of this site who may offer stands.

IMHO the key to comfort in most stands is to add a piece of 2x10 to the top of the seat and a good cushion cover it with material and staple it to the wood. This gives you seat height and takes the stress off the knees(cant stand knees being bent at a 90 degree angle)and will make for a comfortable sit.For room I would do a ladder stand.

I have 5 'baby grand twisters" by API. They are awesome stands and real comfortable on your butt! 3" thick cushion. Also, they are quiet and easy to put up. Hope this helps! Good luck!

The API Grandstand babygrand if cost and weight is not an issue.  That is probably one of the most comfortable stands i've ever hunted with, and if i do an all day sit that is the one i want to be in.     :)

Looks like we were posting at about the same time Kenneth...never hunted out of the "twister".  They look pretty similar except the seat on the grandstand is more of a bench type seat with padding.

yea randy...the twister has the smaller seat but it is still comfortable. I bought some shoulder straps so they are easier to pack in to set up. another nice thing is that bass pro had 'em on sale a few years ago pretty cheap and I picked up the last three for $69 each! also, they might be a little heavier, but it is well worth the comfort! thanks

My Loggy Bayou Monarch has gotten a work out over the past few years and I've done multiple dark to dark sits in it.  For a lock on its the best stand I've ever used.

I have the Loggy Bayou Monarch as well and it is very comfortable. You would need to cover the seat with some type of bag to leave it out though.

The new Summit rsxEagle Hang-On Stand looks very comfortable though albeit at a steep price. Good one to get on sale somewhere after Christmas.

I had the API Babygrand and loved it till it got stollen.  I had the Gorilla ladder stand, and loved it till it got stollen.  I have hunted from the ground since and NOBODY has stollen any of my natural cover I have in place.  Actually, I have gone back to a couple, and they have been improved upon.

That being said, I now have permission to hunt a local farm, so I bought a Primos ground blind at Bass Pro last weekend, that I plan on setting up in the middle of the swamp next year.  Time will only tell if someone likes it better than me and feels the need to leave with more than they came in with.
