Buckmasters Targets at Wal-Mart

I was at Wal Mart earlier today and wandered over to the sporting goods and saw a couple of targets.  Both had the Buckmasters logos on them, one was a bag target, the other a layered foam target.  Both are bright yellow in color, the bag target is only $25, and the layered foam target is $37. I am most interested in the foam target.  Anyone have one of these?  Are they worth the price? Any good?  I think they are clearance priced, cashier was swamped, nobody else around.  Google search was a bust.

i had 1. there not bad targets but not the bets either. mine got shot out realitively quick but my dad cotributed to that with his wheel bow. if you use carbon the foam will melt to your shaft but you can scrape it off pretty easily or just spay some cookin spray (like pams) and i twill prevent that. overakll a good target for the money. i havent tried the bag target though

A suggestion kick in a couple more dollars and get a Morrell Yellow Jacket bag target . Not too far in price from the layered foam price you mentioned.

I got one and have been shooting the heck out of it with my comound bow and it has stood up great. I think there made by morrell with the buckmaster logo on them. A++ for the money.

I have one. The broadhead sides do not last long at all, the field tip sides are decent.

Academy has the Black Hole targets for $35. Not bad for the price...

The foam layered one will hold up fairly well if you don't shoot broadheads a lot into it and if you don't leave it out in the weather.

I bought one of the 18-1 Rhinehart targets this past summer up at Compton. I think I payed $70 for it.....cash and carry. It would be hard to find a longer lasting target.

I have that target from Wally world looks nice but there is not much to them, they have a thin layer of black foam over cardboard with layered foam in the center! I mainly use mine to test broadheads so I have not shot a ton of shots into it, I don't think it is going last long with a lot of shooting! I agree with above post spend a little more and get the Morrell! Our K-Mart had foam Shot-blockers on closout and I bought one of those and have shot the hell out it, so far it has held up well! If I had the money I would invest in the Rhinehart Rhino block that looks like a great target.

I had one of the yellow bag targets you mentioned and I really like it. Arrows come out with 2 fingers. I built a stand for it out of scrap 2x4 cuttoffs and hung it an inch off the ground with rope, as I shot at the target it swells and ended up locking itself into the frame i built, works great.

I get one of those yellow ones every year around Aug to practice with my broadheads all through the season. I just keep patching it up and then toss it in a dumpster around Jan.(pretty much gone by then) Gives me alot of confidence in were my arrows are going to go with my broadheads.

I have the bag . . . a bag is a bag. I would not spend the extra money on a Morrell bag target . . . but you are not interested in the bag . . .

Black hole was always good to me. Had one for 4 years!!!! Pretty good huh, it wasn't pretty when I finally threw it out, but it was still working!

The foam target is great for broadhead tuning. I have one that is at least 3 years old. Once i know my broadheads are shooting the way I like them I sharpen them and rarely shoot them at the target  until next season or if I need to replace a bowstring. It beats shooting them into dirt, sand or even wood chips.

Mine was a few $$ more, but so far, it is the best target I've ever shot.  Arrows remove easily and it shows very little damage, even though I've shot BH's into it almost exclusively.

If you want a cheap target make you one like this.
 
I did this one as a build along under the bowyers bench.  No arrow in it yet awaiting my first trad bow.

Once I have shot the center out of the layered target I take it apart and put 5 or six layers in burlap sack (or burlap target face made into bag), tie string to two corners and hang at random in woods.  The top and bottom layers of the target are normally in good shape and you can get three or four targets. Now I can walk and shoot at different angles.  Works great until I miss!
