I haven't found a difference between tie-on and brass nocksets.  I believe the difference with brass nocksets is the crimping pliers, and maybe the quality of the nocksets themselves.

I too have had diamonback serving break from pulling too tight DVS. I now use brownells .018 crown end loop serving, it does not break as readily and its smoother, smaller diameter you get a tight slick serving ! Do check for contact of anything on your bow arm with the string as frank says .

no contact with bow arm. I still wonder if I'm doing it with my three under release somehow using the nock to push the serving down.
