The Hill Cheetah I just got has wood tip overlays. They look to be rosewood. The phenolic material that reinforces the tips, looks to be within the tip itself. It is not on the surface, as it is on many other bows.
The bow is three years old, I assume it is suitable for a FF string.
My question is are these tips FF compatible?
The reason I ask is that some of the guys at the range, looked at it and said  the tip does not look to be reinforced.
I think it is.
Are there any Hill shooters  who might know ?
I thought to call Craig with the serial # and ask.
advice?
thanks!

Yes,
I started that thread before I received the bow. Now it's here.
I am only asking about tip overlays.

I would shoot a FF type string on it.On the old Dan Quillian Longhunter longbows just had a hardwood tip overlay and he shot 450+ on them. The reinforcement is in the tip,the wedge.I shoot a D97 or 8125 on my Hill's.

That's what I thought. the reinforcement is in the wedge, within the tip.

Yeah, on my Hills there is a a wedge of some sort of tough-looking material within the laminations at the tip.

You are right that the reinforcement is the wedge in the tip. When I asked Craig about this he said String material is your preference. At that time though he recommended B-50 to me.

tip reinforcemetn for non stretch material is an abrasion issue as much as anything else.  The FF will saw through the limb if the material under it is not hard enough.

Glass, Phenolic, some horn, some hardwoods will work fine.

The wedge inside is to stiffen the tip.

1. Call or email Craig with the serial number, he made the bow and he'll know better than anyone else.

2. If have any concerns, why not use B50 or B55 better yet. I have three Hill's from 51@30 to 75@28, they all use B55 and they work just fine.

Long Stick
I had planned on contacting Craig.
You may be right regarding the B-50.
