TQ bows?
« on: December 15, 2010, 02:19:00 PM »
I found a bow for sale, it is a "Comet" made by TQ bows. 30 lb draw. Anyone have any experience? It would be for a new shooter, a young lady.

I'm sure someone will know for sure but I believe TQ stands for Terry Quinn.  The TQ Comet might be the same bow as the Quinn Comet.

I never held a TQ but the 3 Quinn Stallions I've owned have been great bows. David Quinn really knew how to build great limbs, I was never a fan of the finish on the riser though.

Can you post a pic of the TQ bow?

Yep, it is a Quinn, I have one of those in #44, sweet shooter. I have about 12 Quinns total, my go to bows, fast, smooth, no stack and shoot like bows costing 3-4x as much. If  you need more info, PM me, for tuning, specs. I have spent many hours talking with David and Peggy before they passed on, great folks, real inovators and pioneers in this sport, a lot of folks dont realize all their contributions. I sold a lot of higher price bows to buy Quinns, best decision I ever made.

It's a Quinn, as the others have said.  Well worth the money.  David sure had limb construction down.  The riser may not be as pretty as a custom wood bow, but it will perform with most of them.  And out-perform many, too.  So buy it, and I will out bid Sam if you decide to sell.  But you won't.

This bow is louder than a wooden riser bow by far. I put som deer skin under the limb pads and it helped a lot!

It is amazingly consistant. She's a real keeper!
