Thoughts on Wool Shirts

Jas Townsend & Son sells a pretty excellent wool pull over too. I have one of Asbell's and more KOM than I should. Even have a zipper swanndri in camo. The Townsend is also from the period of the mountain men. Cool stuff!

Any idea on the sizes of the Asbell pullovers?
I am thinking aboutt getting a vest with hood but don't want one to small or big.
I like the look of the others but cannot shoot a bow when there is wide sleeves in the way of the string.

I have two.A mackinaw and a hooded pullover.Both size XL.I am 5 ft. 11 in. and weighed about 220 or so when I got these in Jan. and March of 2010.I was actually able to try both on before purchasing at Kalamazoo and then at the PBS banquet.I am now down to 181 lbs.and thinking of getting another one.Teresa suggested a large for me now.I am sure if you were to get your measurements etc. and call Teresa she would be able to determine the proper size for you.She makes a quality product.I havent tried any of Ron LaClairs items yet but they look like good quality products as well.

I have a wool longhunter is it is the best investment I have made. Had it on over a thick wool sweater this morning hunting crows in a woods setting and they never saw me and I was warm in 18 degree temperature. Great stuff and just cozy warm when you put it on,warm and comfortable. tm

How do you guys clean wool clothing? I would love to get some, but I am constantly washing my hunting clothes in scent free detergent. Do you just spray it with scent killer?

there was a rap about wool on npr radio the other day and it was mentioned not to use commercial wool cleaners like 'woolite'.  baby shampoo or very mild soap like 'ivory' was recommended, and used sparingly.

I cant speak for specific brands. I have an old all wool, grey sweater. It was about 18 degrees here yesterday so I tossed it on over a long sleev t-shirt and went bunny hunting for two hours and never even started to feel cold, I was moving at a slow pace. It was nice not feeling bulked up, or restricted. I was worried at first because the old thought process of heavy = warm is still in my mind. I had nothing to worry about!
