Older Gold Tip 5575 needs 80 grain inserts!
« on: December 20, 2010, 04:39:00 PM »
I scored some German Kinetics 125 gr heads and need to beef up the point weight to work with the arrows I have.

Not sure what to do next.....Work is slow today and I am messing with re-purposing some Gold Tip 5575 generic looking, plain grey carbon arrows that are older. They are 30.25", with alu insert, three 5" shields, a black widow 9" wrap, BW's GT nock adapter and nock, and 175gr field point.

How can I achieve a 80gr brass insert so I match my dynamic spine to my PLX longbow? The RPS screw in kind seem to be the best option here.

Anything I may have missed in the way of brass adapters?

The brass inserts are 50 and 100 gr. for GT arrows. The 100 gr. ones are long enough to trim alittle off to get it to 75 grs.

Pull the nock out and pour in 75grs of pre measured coffee. It will pack into the front after a few shots.Or go too hareware store and buy a 8-32 brass treaded rod and cut off 75gr piece. If you want to be exact you will need a good scale, then you will discover the arrows you are starting with are not that exact to begin with.

Goldtip makes screw in weights that go behind the insert they come in 50 and 20 grains. Put 4 of the 20 grain ones in and it will work fine.LCH

Once you get to this page click on the weights tab, it will take you their weight system.

Thanks! I'm tunning my 3555 now.  Waiting on my field point test kit from 3R. I'm shooting 125 and still a tad to the left so possibly just a little more weight and I should be good

Keep in mind that these weights can come loose. It will then slide around in the arrow shaft. One way to solve it is to buy the GT tool that slides in from the nock end of the arrow shaft to re-tighten the weights or once you find the desired weight, glue  them all together.  I used to epoxy them all together once I found my desired weight through tuning.

the added 20 grains difference in a 100gr brass insert ain't gonna make a bit of difference.    :readit:
