3D sttendance and rules

As I am sitting here at home healing from an operation, my thoughts are of the upcoming 3D season. After reading another post about the attendance of 3D events being down, it has got me thinking about why that might be. We all know the economy has had some effect, but what might be other reasons. That brought me to this, could rule restrictions cause people to stay home? Here are some of the rules I can remember seeing over the past few years. I would be interested if you think any of these rules are restrictive and maybe should not be used. Or maybe you can thing of some new rule that needs to be added.
I am not saying these rules are not right, just asking if you think any of these or others are wrong.
Here is a list of some rules I remember from past years:
no string walking, no sights, no elevated rests, minimum arrow weight of 450 gr, no carbon arrows, no mechanical release, no nibb points, minimum point weight of 125 gr. If there are other rules you think are not proper, please include.

my clubs only 2 rules are no broadheads and have fun it is ends up being a very well attended family evening too many rules take the fun out of it if you want to keep score do it if not just shoot i just started doing 3d this last yr. and have never kept score but always had a good time

Unfortunately a lot of people making up the rules for their 3-D shoots have their own idea and adgenda of what is traditional equipment and what it not.  One club in our area has a rule no wood arrows for pete's sake.  I can't figure that one out.

I tend to avoid these types of shoots and attend shoots that are more informal and fun oriented in nature rather than competitive.

Some of the best shoots I’ve been to only have one rule. No wheels or cams. The shoot was for your own benefit and to show you how good or bad you shoot.  A lot of vendors, fun shooting, Bows to try out, new equipment to see, and Great BS sessions’. I don’t care if I can out shoot you or you can out shoot me. All I want to know is how I will perform when the time comes in the woods. We don’t need any stinking rules.

That's the only rule I want to see.

If the shoot is for competition, then have simple classes for longbow, recurve (mens & womens), youth, and peewee.  Any shooting/aiming method or arrow material should be fair game.

I just got into 3D at the end of this last season, If I keep score it's for myself and have never handed anything in.

I'm in agreement with Ron+dog, keep it simple and have fun.
