Another toy to play with, I'm exited.  Ordering a new bow here in Jan this tool worked great last time I used it for my Big Jim Buffalo Bow, and now I can use it for that 145# Mojostick.

This is Les. MAC users please read.

If you are using a Mac platform with either excel 2008 or openoffice 3.1 be aware there may be some glitches.

For mac excel you need to clear and numbers out of the Center Cut and small plate thickness window before proceeding.

The open office 3.1 release for Mac seems to not like the DSC 12-25-2010 version.

This is from Stu regarding   people who use plungers  I said I thought you would measure center cut of bow and add plunger depth. -3/16 + 1/8 (plunger extension) = center cut of -1/16

Your correct about the center cut dimension when using a plunger but that also assumes that the plunger is rigid like a normal strike plate.  Obviously the whole intent of using a plunger is that it not be rigid and that is where the difficulty lies.  The amount of sping force set on the plunger will determine how much the dynamic bow requirement increases.  A very stiff spring will cause the increase to be very small (perhaps just a few pounds) but a soft spring can greatly increase the spine required (perhaps as high as 15 pounds).  The amount of individual tuning available in the plunger setup really makes the arrow selection very user dependent.  For me, I would stay down the middle of the road and set the center cut dimension exactly as you mentioned (dimension at rest with plunger installed) and then add 7 pounds to the dynamic required.  From there I would tune that arrow using the normal plunger tuning methods.

Hello all,
Thank you so much for the encouraging and thankful posts. You are all very welcome!  I am happy toput the necessary work into this free tool and together with your help it continues to get better and better.

I continue to welcome any request for improvements. One that has already been raised is to make the performance curve (used internally by the spreadsheet) calibrated to each individual bow. This is certainly possible now that indiviual bows are included and will definitely improve the accuracy of the speed predications.

Also, any bowyer or individual that has accurate center-cut measurements for their bows that would like to send them to then I will happily include that data into the bow selection menu.   Any accuarate speed measurements are welcome!

Thanks again all and I wish you a very successful new year!
-Stu

Thank you so much Stu! Your calculator has also found its way to The Netherlands. We find it very accurate usefull tool here, except for the speed from which the outcome is a bit optiminstic.
