This may seem like a silly question but. I made a dozen arrows up for my son first attempt. i cut one of them to 28" bop it seems to fly well but are long for his size. Should i leave well enough alone or cut them shorter, i don't want them to be to stiff.

I did the same for my son, I ended up shortening them, It let them fly further. Just seem to work better for him. You can try one to see if it makes any differance or not. Godd luck

If ya got more than 6-7"s hanging out there I would cut them some, but 3-4 or even 5"s ya may leave alone for the best flight, but as said above, ya may get limited distance. I have seen Joe shoot and I think he will be fine with whatever ya decide as he has great hand eye co-ordination and his brain will adjust quickly! Shawn

For every inch below 28" that you cut an arrow you increase the spine weight by 5#. Instead of shortening the arrows, start with the correct length and spine for his draw length and draw weight. By shortening an "adult" arrow for a kid to shoot is doing a disservice to the kid because it gives a situation that is not correct for him to have to overcome. I have no problem with longer arrows as long as they fly well. All of my arrows are cut to at least 29" and my draw length is 26". Pat

Joe is drawing 21" his bow is 31# @22" the arrows in question are spined 30-35 with 70 grain points. Looks like about 10" hanging over. Any more thoughts?
